Professor Cole spoke of the many committees that make up IFCN and the work that they have been doing. In 2024 IFCN added a new SIG, IFCN Society if Neuromuscular Imaging. Over the past year IFCN has grown by 4 new societies: Algeria, Latvia, Bangladesh and Lithuania whom were accepted at the last General Assembly.
Recently IFCN has established a Low Middle Income Country Educational taskforce which hope to address some of the key short comings in the areas of training, staff & equipment in LMIC’s.
IFCN awarded 9 Educational Scholarships and 3 Research Fellowships in 2024 totaling $100,000. The Research Committee has been working on increasing the visibility of research support and enhance educational tools for research methods.
IFCN’s two journals, Clinical Neurophysiology and Clinical Neurophysiology Practice have had encouraging years with CLINPH having an impact factor of 3.7 and CNP an impact factor of 2.3.
The focus of the General Assembly was the three presentations for the host of ICCN 2028. They were the Dutch Clinical Neurophysiology Society, the Portuguese Society of Clinical Neurophysiology and Sleep Medicine, and The Romanian Society of Electrodiagnostic Neurophysiology. All made excellent presentations, showing off one of their main city’s as well as thoroughly presenting a venue of which to host ICCN 2028. The delegates both in-person and virtually cast their votes. The winner of ICCN 2028 was the Dutch Clinical Neurophysiology Society! Congratulations to all of the societies and their hard work on the presentations.
A reminder that ICCN 2026 will be held in Cartagena, Colombia and hosted by the Colombian Association of Electrodiagnostic Medicine (ACME).
Thank you to all that attended this year’s IFCN General Assembly.
